Angewandte Chemie 32/2023: Persistence

Author: Angewandte Chemie International Edition

In this issue, Christian Müller et al. review the chemistry of the cyaphid ion, and Olivier Guillon et al. discuss technological pathways to produce compressed and highly pure hydrogen with solar power. The Minireviews deal with smart materials based on synthetic host molecules (Niveen M. Khashab et al.) as well as white-light emission with organic persistent room temperature phosphorescence (Zachary M. Hudson et al.).

In the original research section, Xinbao Han et al. develop insoluble polyoxometalate clusters to bridge homogeneous and heterogeneous water oxidation photocatalysis. Maurizio Prato et al. show how chiral carbon nanodots can act as molecular catalysts in chemical and photochemical reactions. Hiroki Oguri et al. describe how the synthetic modulation of an unstable dehydrosecodine-type intermediate and its encapsulation into a confined cavity enable its X-ray crystallographic observation (see picture). Paolo Melchiorre et al. created a general light-driven organocatalytic platform for the activation of inert substrates.
